∙ Book your treatment at least 2 weeks before an important event. Redness, bruising, and swelling may be present in that time.

∙ It is recommended to discontinue taking anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications for a period of 2 weeks before treatment such as aspirin, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, NSAIDS, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Fish Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or other essentially fatty acids to minimize risk of bruising and swelling. Please consult with your primary physician prior to discontinuing any medications.

∙ Avoid alcohol, caffeine, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods and cigarettes at least 24 hours before and after your treatment to reduce risk of swelling and bruising.

∙ Discontinue consuming alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to treatment to minimize risk of bruising. Discontinue retinol 2 days before and 2 days after treatment.

∙ Let the provider know if you have a history of cold sores. An antiviral may be prescribed.

∙ You may not have an active rash in the area being treated.

∙ You may not be pregnant or breastfeeding.

Stop retinols or products that may dehydrate the skin (2-7 days prior to treatment)

Discontinue use of all exfoliating products 1 week prior to treatment

Avoid sun exposure (2+ weeks) and use a sunscreen that protects against UVA and UVB rays

with a SPF of 30+

Stop Accutane® (3+ months – or as directed by your provider)

No aspirin or supplements that may thin the blood (7 days or as directed by your provider)

Start antiviral prophylactic treatment for those with a history of viral infection / cold sores

For patients that are prone to hyperpigmentation, consider pre-treating with a melanin

suppressing agent 2x daily for 2 weeks (or an appropriate length of time) before the

treatment

∙  Redness, swelling, and bruising may be present after treatment.

∙ Do not lay down for at least 4 hours

∙ Do not wear a hat for 24 hours

∙ No exercise, do any heavy lifting or strenuous activity for 24 hours

∙ It is recommended that you wait at least 2 weeks before having any other facial treatments (facials, hair removal, massages, lasers, etc.)

∙ It can take up to 14 days to see the full results.

Does tox have downtime? You can return to your normal routine directly after treatment. Minimal downtime such as redness may be visible for a few hours after. Please refer to Post Treatment Guidelines for details.

Can I workout after?  Avoid strenuous activity 24 hours after receiving tox including exercise and heavy lifting.

How often should I receive tox? Tox is recommended every 3-4 months to maintain smooth results.

When should I start receiving tox? Tox is always best to start before lines are visible when not emoting. When you start to notice fine lines & wrinkles staying after making a facial expression, it’s a good time to start treatments.
