PRE + POST CARE GUIDELINES

  • PRE

    ∙ Book your treatment at least 2 weeks before an important event. Redness, bruising, and swelling may be present in that time.

    ∙ It is recommended to discontinue taking anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications for a period of 2 weeks before treatment such as aspirin, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, NSAIDS, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Fish Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or other essentially fatty acids to minimize risk of bruising and swelling. Please consult with your primary physician prior to discontinuing any medications.

    ∙ Avoid alcohol, caffeine, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods and cigarettes at least 24 hours before and after your treatment to reduce risk of swelling and bruising.

    ∙ Discontinue consuming alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to treatment to minimize risk of bruising. Discontinue retinol 2 days before and 2 days after treatment.

    ∙ Let the provider know if you have a history of cold sores. An antiviral may be prescribed.

    ∙ You may not have an active rash in the area being treated.

    ∙ You may not be pregnant or breastfeeding.

    POST

    ∙ Redness, swelling, and bruising may be present after treatment.

    ∙ Do not lay down for at least 4 hours

    ∙ Do not wear a hat for 24 hours

    ∙ No exercise, do any heavy lifting or strenuous activity for 24 hours

    ∙ Initial swelling may take a few days to reduce. Apply an ice pack to the treated area, this will reduce the initial swelling.

    ∙ Avoid touching the treated area within 6 hours following treatment. After that, light make-up can be applied and the area can be gently washed with soap and water. Do not apply significant pressure to the area.

    ∙ It is recommended that you wait at least 2 weeks before having any other facial treatments (facials, hair removal, massages, lasers, etc.)

    ∙ It can take up to 14 days to see the full results.

  • PRE

    ∙ Schedule your appointment at least 3-5 days prior to a special event.

    ∙Redness and sensitivity may be apparent in that time period.

    ∙ This treatment is not appropriate if you currently have any active cold sores or rash in the treatment area.

    ∙ This treatment is not appropriate if you have used Accutane currently or in the last 6 months.

    ∙ This treatment is not appropriate if you have received laser procedures or waxing in the last 7 days.

    ∙ This treatment is not appropriate if you are pregnant. We recommend getting clearance from your doctor if you are currently breastfeeding.

    ∙ Discontinue use of retinoids at least 24 hours before treatment.

    POST

    ∙ Redness or sensitivity may occur for up to 24 hours after treatment.

    ∙ Avoid washing face for 6 hours post treatment. Retinoids or topical exfoliants may be resumed 1 day post treatment

    ∙ Avoid exercise or sweating for 24 hours post treatment.

    ∙ Avoid sun exposure or tanning. When exposed to sun, reapply 30+ SPF every 80 minutes.

  • PRE

    ∙ If you have a history of cold sores, a antiviral may be prescribed and taken in advanced as this treatment may stimulate a breakout. If currently experiencing an active cold sore, this treatment is not appropriate.

    ∙ This treatment is not appropriate if you have an active rash in the area being treated.

    ∙ This treatment is not appropriate if you are using Accutane or have used it in the past 6 months.

    ∙ This treatment is not appropriate for pregnant or nursing women.

    ∙ This treatment is not appropriate if you are currently undergoing chemotherapy or have in the last 6 months.

    ∙ This treatment is not appropriate if you have (or are being treated for) bacterial, fungal, or viral infections.

    ∙ This treatment is not appropriate for those with a hemorrhagic (bleeding) disorder. Please consult with your doctor for approval.

    ∙ This treatment is not appropriate if you are allergic to stainless steel and/or numbing agents such as lidocaine.

    ∙ Discontinue treatments of IPL/BBL, laser procedures and waxing for at least 7 days before treatment.

    ∙ Discontinue retinoids 24 hours before treatment to reduce sensitivity.

    ∙ Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event. Redness, swelling and peeling may be apparent in that time period.

    POST

    ∙ Redness or sensitivity may be present for 24-48 hours post treatment. Peeling may occur within 7 days post treatment.

    ∙ Avoid exercise of sweating for 3 days post treatment.

    ∙ Avoid sun tanning and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Always wear SPF 30+ and reapply as directed.

    . Do not apply anything unless your Provider directs you to for 24 hours post treatment.

    ∙ Treat the area like an open wound- you do not want to touch the skin with hands, water, others, animals, towels, sheets, etc. that aren't as clean as possible. Avoid touching the treated area.

    ∙ For 5-7 days post treatment, keep a simple routine. Use a gentle cleanser, avoid active ingredients such as serums, moisturize and wear SPF (always!). Products approved by Skincare Specialist are an exception.

  • PRE

    ∙ Discontinue waxing, laser treatments, retinoids, exfoliation and injectable treatments at least 7 days before treatment.

    ∙ Let the provider know if you have a history of cold sores. An antiviral may be prescribed.

    ∙ You may not have an active rash in the area being treated.

    ∙ You may not be pregnant or breastfeeding.

    POST

    ∙ Redness, swelling, and sensitivity may occur post treatment lasting up to a week.

    ∙ Flaking and dryness may occur post treatment. Keep skin moisturized with post care products by instruction as needed.

    ∙ Appearance of dark patch may occur a few days post treatment and will lighten within a few days.

    ∙ It is vital that post care instructions given by your provider are followed as directed for optimal results.

  • PRE

    ∙ Book your treatment at least 4 weeks before an important event. Redness, bruising, and swelling may be present in that time.

    ∙ Discontinue prolonged sun exposure at least 3 days before treatment.

    ∙ Self tan or any pigment or product on the skin must be completely gone for treatment to be administered.

    ∙ Treatment is not appropriate if you have a rash in the treatment area, active cold sores in the treatment area, sunburnt skin, or are pregnant or nursing.

    POST

    ∙ Redness, tenderness, and sensitivity maybe present and last 24-48 hours after treatment.

    ∙ Visible downtime such as redness and texture are normal and can last at least uneasy post treatment.

    ∙ Do not apply anything to the skin not directed by your provider post treatment.

    ∙ Avoid direct sunlight for at least 24 hours post treatment.

    ∙ Avoid exercising or strenuous activity for the first 24 hours post treatment, including anything involving heat and sweating.

  • PRE

    ∙ Discontinue sun exposure, sun tanning, or self tanning for 3-4 weeks before treatment.

    ∙ Discontinue any skincare or prescriptions that cause photo-sensitivity such as retinoids, doxycycline, minocycline, etc. at least 72 hours before treatment.

    ∙ Discontinue anticoagulant medications at least 7-10 days prior to treatment. Always talk to your doctor to discuss if medication changes are appropriate for you.

    ∙ This treatment is not appropriate if you are currently experiencing a rash, are currently using Accutane or have in the last 6 months, or are pregnant or nursing.

    ∙ Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event. Redness, swelling and peeling may be apparent in that time period.

    POST

    ∙ Wearing SPF 30+ every day as directed is a must post treatment.

    ∙ Redness and sensitive post treatment may be present and last a few days.

    ∙ Pigmentation may darken post treatment before improving. Do not pick or scratch at treated skin.

    ∙ Avoid sun exposure and hear exposure post treatment for at least 2 days.

    ∙ Skincare and makeup products may be applied directly after treatment. We do recommend holding off on use of exfoliants for a few days.
